TRAVEL TIPS

Getting Here and Around

The Congo Town Airport (TZN) is 4 miles south of Drigg's Hill and receives flights four times a week from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) via Watermakers Air and daily flights from Nassau (NAS) via Western Air. Nassau-based Golden Wings Charters is a respected charter company that can be used to reach South Andros. For the ultimate thrill and the convenience of flying direct to your resort’s beach or dock, charter a seaplane either with Miami Seaplane Tours & Charters or Safari Seaplanes from Nassau. Taxis and many lodges and hotels meet incoming flights and ferries.

A free government ferry makes the half-hour trip between Mangrove Cay and South Andros twice daily. It departs from South Andros at 9 am and 5 pm and from Mangrove Cay at 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, but schedules are subject to change. Call the South Andros Tourist Office in Congo Town (242/369–1688) for information.

At this writing, there was no public ferry to Central Andros from Mangrove Cay or from South Andros but government was hoping to establish a new round-trip ferry service from Kemp's Bay (South Andros) to Lisbon Creek (Mangrove Cay), and then to Behring Point (Central Andros), where a new concrete dock was built in 2015.
