TRAVEL TIPS

Getting Here and Around

The inner city and eastern suburbs are well served by buses, although the journey out to the eastern suburbs beaches can be quite long in peak hour. Most depart from Circular Quay (Alfred Street). Travel to Paddington and Bondi is on Nos. 380, 333, and 382; and to Watsons Bay and Vaucluse (via Double Bay and Rose Bay) on Nos. 323, 324, and 325. Buses 380, 382, and 333 travel along Oxford Street, the main artery of the alternative (and gay) neighborhood of Darlinghurst. It is quicker to take the train to Edgecliff or Bondi Junction stations to connect with buses traveling to many of the eastern suburbs including Coogee and Clovelly. A ferry operates between Circular Quay and Watsons Bay, calling at Garden Island, Darling Point, Double Bay, and Rose Bay. It is an easy walk to Darlinghurst and Surry Hills from the city center, while Kings Cross has its own train station, just one stop from the city center.
